With the release of Control‘s AWE expansion, the game’s Ultimate Edition is now available on Steam. The current launch discount brings the $40 game down to $32, but if you want to save even more money, there are a couple of stores that have your back. Green Man Gaming has Control: Ultimate Edition for only $27.19, which is the best price we’ve seen so far. It’s unclear when GMG’s deal ends, so you should take advantage of it as soon as you can.
If you’d prefer to buy from Fanatical, then you can snag Control: Ultimate Edition for $28.79–still a great deal. Spending $20 or more at Fanatical right now gets you a bonus free game. Some of the games you can choose from include DiRT Rally, American Fugitive, and Reventure. Fanatical’s deal is valid until September 2.
Control: Ultimate Edition offers the complete experience, packaging the base game with all of its bonus content and expansions. The Foundation and AWE expansions add on to the story by taking Jesse Faden through new areas of the Oldest House, including its depths and an abandoned sector. The AWE expansion is also the first Remedy Connected Universe event, which bridges the gap between this game and the Alan Wake series.
Control is one of the best games of 2019 and scored an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Control review. Critic Peter Brown praised its “gorgeous art style” and “stylish combat,” noting that it does a great job of evoking dread and awe.
“It’s not often that a game invades my thoughts the way Control has,” he wrote. “I’m at the point where I want to consume every last thing it has to offer. And if I’m honest, it also makes me want to go back and replay Remedy’s past games, too.”
